Zero-Drop

New to zero-drop? While the term isn’t necessarily something you may have come across in reference to footwear before, it’s pretty important when you consider how it impacts your body. Traditional footwear elevates the heel an average of 14-24mm (0.5″-1.0″). Elevating the heel throws off the alignment of the spine and forces an unnatural heel strike.

While a good majority of our shoes are zero-drop, it’s important to note that our Mountain-to-Town Series has a slightly higher drop of 4mm or about the height of two nickels stacked.

With your heels and toes in a straight line, a zero-drop heel places the foot flat to the ground which corrects posture and aligns your spine - encouraging a mid-foot strike. This means that Lems help alleviate strain on the lower back, and allows you to walk with a much healthier mid-foot to forefoot strike.

Still a little confused? Close your eyes and imagine yourself running, hitting the ground with your heel taking the brunt of the impact. Now, imagine a fully flat shoe that allows you to hit the ground with the center of your foot - evenly absorbing the impact. Seems like a way better deal for your foot, right?

While we don’t recommend completely switching from a traditional drop to a zero-drop at once, easing into a zero-drop shoe is something that your entire body will benefit from.
