Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.
Zero-Drop Platform
Just like the Primal 2, the Primal 3 is built on a zero-drop platform which keeps your heel and toes level, mimicking your natural barefoot position on a flat surface.

This sticky rubber outsole incorporates 4mm deep lugs for incredible traction on snow, mud, and everywhere in-between! The built in zig-zag grooves (siping) provide additional biting edges to cut into ice/snow and helps ground your feet in slippery situations.

Boulder nylon waterproof
I have walked many miles in the last 2 weeks with great comfort. On uneven footing they give chance for good balance and grip.

Excellent Boots!
This is my 3rd pair of Lem's, and like the Boulder Boot in nylon and Kourt sneakers, they are excellent. Waited to write a review until I had 3 months in them. Very comfortable right out of the box, with no break-in other than where the toe box flexes when walking, which is not a comfort issue at all. High-quality leather top to bottom, with a thicker lug sole that can handle sharp rocks without bruising the foot. Clearly, they are built to last, and I would not hesitate to use these for a work boot. Nice roomy toe box and they feel like I am wearing slippers. These are a bit roomier than the Boulder boots in the same size 12.
I hike 4-5 miles a day in the often wet NW and have found the traction to be great in sand, dirt, and on rock, and they are totally waterproof with a nice folded tongue that will keep you dry all the way up to where the fabric on the top of the ankle is. The only thing I have added is a thick coat of Obenauf's to keep that nice leather happy, and I swapped out the insole for one that is thinner with a bit less cushion, but the factory insole is totally fine, just a personal preference. Highly recommend, 10/10.
