Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.
Zero-Drop Platform
Just like the Primal 2, the Primal 3 is built on a zero-drop platform which keeps your heel and toes level, mimicking your natural barefoot position on a flat surface.

On my third pair
These have been my all-around, go to casual shoe since 2021. I started with the Boulder boot years ago, after seeing the ads with the novelty photo of the rolled up, packable boot. So, I tried the shoes as an alternative to when the boot was overkill (the non-breathable waterproof ones). Let me start over by saying that ever since I’ve started wearing Lems wide toe box shoes, I’ve realized how uncomfortable almost all shoes are. It’s maddening.
I wear these almost daily for work, walks, errands, playing drums, etc. and am on my third pair. The first lasted over 2 years, the second a good 1.5 in, and I’ve just started breaking in another pair. After buying my second pair, I forgot how snug the fit was out of the box, and realized how much they really get to be broken in—I almost thought I should have sized up (third pair is snug too), but by the time they would be broken in they would probably be too loose.
I slide mine on and off a lot like slip ons, and wore down the heel backing fabric to where the foam was breaking off, but since they’re the navy ones (second pair) I’ve gotten away with Gaff tape fixes to get more mileage out of a comfortable shoe.
I’ve found that end of life with these shoes, like most, is when the sole grip is no longer gummy, hardens and becomes slick.

Great for Women too!
I was looking for a sturdy pair of trail and camping shoes, without all the loud colors. I tried on the men's Trailhead in the store and liked their fit! To add a touch of fun I exchanged the laces and added ones in burgundy. Great for a hike or a weekend out camping! (moonlit moss)
