Very comfortable boots!! I love the wide toe.

As an avid thru-hiker and trail runner, I wanted a work boot for trail maintenance that wasn't as narrow or ramped as traditional options. I settled on the Boulder Summit Waterproof as a good compromise between wiggle room, durability, and technically meeting the "ankle-high leather or equivalent" requirements of my employer.
So far, these boots have traveled on exactly one 8-day hitch in the Pasayten Wilderness of WA where we escaped an active fire, jogged to put up closure signage, hopped over 100 downed logs, and cut about 100 more. The waterproofing at this time is excellent, and the lower weigh made higher miles generally acceptable (though retained sweat for obvious reasons). The minimalist midsole really isn't appropriate for heavier pack loads as seen in trail work and the outsole on this particular model isn't as robust as I probably should have purchased.
What worries me the most is that the leather on the toecap is already peeling away from the outsole (which I noticed when I was applying leather conditioner on the day after the hitch). I am concerned that this will impact the water-proof-ness going forward, which is a key feature of this boot and very relevant to my line of work. If this deterioration proceeds at pace, the review will go down to a 3/5, as the price point can't justify a longevity akin to Altras.

Comfy is an under statement
I just simply love these boots and the customer service that comes with it!!!! Comfy right out of the box, and so great to hike in. No wetness seeping through so far, and I lost my footing into a deep running stream on the coastal beaches with no wet socks afterwards.
I have wide feet and the wide toe box is heaven to my toes. So many shoe brands just want to squish your feet into a shoe, not Lems ♥
Thank you Lems and Alisha for helping make sure I have a good pair as the first one had a weird wearing issue on one of the shoes that was just getting worse. I am for sure a Lems fan for life now :)
